On March 13, 2026, Galliker officially opened Logistics Center 2 at the Aclens location in Western Switzerland. Among those present at the celebration was Isabelle Moret, the Vaud State Councilor and head of the Department of Economy, Innovation, Employment, and Cultural Heritage. Customers, partners, and neighbors had the opportunity to learn about the new building and the services offered.<\/p>\n

Modern Infrastructure for Logistics and Storage<\/h3>\n

Logistics Center 2 spans an area of approximately 18,000 m\u00b2 and can accommodate up to 17,400 pallets, which can be stored at a constant temperature of 18 \u00b0C. These conditions are particularly suitable for the storage of pharmaceutical products and food. The basement is specifically designed for the storage of hazardous goods in accordance with ADR regulations for classes 3 and 8. Galliker takes over complete inventory management at the customer’s request, including picking and packaging, using state-of-the-art technologies.<\/p>\n

In addition to the storage areas, the new building includes modern office spaces, training rooms, and social areas for employees. An integrated showroom allows for events such as dealer conferences or vehicle fleet handovers.<\/p>\n

Sustainability and Resource Conservation in Focus<\/h3>\n

Logistics Center 2 features an innovative construction method. It stands on approximately 100 concrete piles that transfer loads into the rock at depths of 14 to 17 m. This construction allows four of the piles to support the weight of the Eiffel Tower. A central element of the construction is the resource-efficient use of materials, such as prefabricated columns with a diameter of 80 cm that can bear loads of up to 3,500 t.<\/p>\n

The building is heated and cooled exclusively with renewable energy. For this purpose, 30 geothermal probes were installed at a depth of 300 m each. The power supply is provided by a photovoltaic system on the roof with an output of around 790 kWp, as well as a photovoltaic facade on the south side of the building with an output of about 160 kWp. This facade is the first of its kind at Galliker and will generate valuable electricity, especially in winter.<\/p>\n

In combination with the existing Logistics Center 1, which has a photovoltaic system with around 1,088 kWp, a comprehensive „Net Zero“ system will be established across the entire area in Aclens. This system includes a medium-voltage area network, a large battery storage system, and an e-charging infrastructure with 40 charging points, enabling overnight charging of up to 50 electric trucks. This efficiently connects renewable energy production, electricity storage, intelligent control, and sustainable mobility.<\/p>\n

The area in Aclens also has a direct rail connection, allowing for efficient last-mile delivery to customers in Western Switzerland. By combining road and rail, distribution across Galliker locations is designed to be sustainable.<\/p>\n

The opening of Logistics Center 2 represents a significant step in Galliker’s corporate history. This expansion strengthens the family-owned company’s presence in Western Switzerland while simultaneously setting a benchmark for efficiency and sustainability in the logistics industry.<\/p>\n
