Swisslog presents a fully functional museum piece at the exhibition ‘Experience Logistics’ at the Swiss Transport Museum in Lucerne until October 2021. Intralogistics is explained playfully and experienced interactively for visitors. The realization of the exhibit is done in cooperation with AutoStore System, Utz Group, Glas Tr\u00f6sch, and Brack.ch<\/p>\n

(Buchs\/AG) Swisslog supports the ‘Transport Museum’ in Lucerne, the most popular museum in Switzerland with over 500,000 visitors per year, with an AutoStore exhibit. The fully operational museum piece is part of the new focus exhibition ‘Experience Logistics!’ and offers visitors exciting, interactive experiences around the theme of modern and automated small parts logistics. ‘We are very proud to represent Switzerland’s logistics expertise with our AutoStore at the Transport Museum,’ says Daniel Hauser, Head of Region Central Europe at Swisslog.<\/p>\n

As a company that has implemented the most AutoStore systems worldwide for users from various industries, Swisslog brings a wealth of experience that it wants to make accessible to all interested museum visitors ‘to touch and try out.’ Martin B\u00fctikofer, Director of the Swiss Transport Museum, also confirms the fruitful collaboration: ‘We have managed to present the complex topic of logistics comprehensively, understandably, and playfully.’<\/p>\n

Visitors Can Actively Participate<\/strong><\/h5>\n

The AutoStore exhibit in the ‘Experience Logistics!’ exhibition covers 64 square meters, includes 216 containers, and is operated by six AutoStore robots. Built as an elevated, freestanding stage structure, it is not only highly visible but can also be walked around and through. To ensure that museum visitors can clearly recognize and understand all the automated processes, the exhibit is completely glazed. The highlight: The robots can be easily set in motion via a touchscreen \u2013 transporting up to ten containers at nine fictional ports.<\/p>\n

The containers are labeled with a letter and position themselves, for example, in the order of the operator’s name like ‘Patrick.’ ‘This function increases the fun and identification in dealing with our AutoStore and enhances the personal experience character,’ explains Bernhard Muri. The team leader of Technical Project Service Central Europe at Swisslog was responsible for the concept and praises the good collaboration with project partners, without whom the museum piece would not have been possible: AutoStore System provided the base technology, Utz Group supplied the containers, Bito-Lagertechnik Bittmann AG was responsible for the steel construction, Lichtgitter GmbH for the grid flooring, and Glas Tr\u00f6sch for the scratch-resistant safety glass encasing the exhibit. Brack.ch also supported the project as a sponsor.
\nThe focus exhibition ‘Experience Logistics!’ at the Swiss Transport Museum, Lidostrasse 5 in CH-6006 Lucerne, is now open for visits and is planned to run until mid-October 2021.<\/p>\n
