When one of the largest economic sectors opens its doors on April 21, 2022, during the “Swiss Logistics Day” in Switzerland and “Logistics Day” in Germany, the changed role of the economic sector for supply and economic stability in uncertain times becomes evident. Companies and institutions will offer over 100 events across Europe on this day, more than 20 of which are in Switzerland alone.<\/strong><\/h5>\n

(Dietikon\/Bremen) Logistics is opening its doors. On “Swiss Logistics Day” on April 21, 2022, interested parties will once again have the opportunity to get a firsthand look at specific functions and processes in various companies, from production, trade, and IT to freight forwarders and logistics service providers, as well as museum and port operators. The action day, which was first initiated by GS1 Switzerland and the Federal Association of Logistics (BVL) in 2008, is now taking place for the 15th time. A multitude of partners supports the Swiss Logistics Day, including the 28 members and communication partners of the new joint promotional organization Swiss Supply.<\/p>\n

Well over 100 free events in five countries (Switzerland, Germany, Greece, Poland, and Slovenia) are registered for this year’s action day. For example, in Switzerland, the companies Competec Logistics\/Brack in Willisau and Dachser Freight Forwarding in Lyss will open their doors. The organizations ASFL SVBL, GS1 Switzerland, the Customs School, and the University of Applied Sciences Graub\u00fcnden will present their current educational offerings online. Additionally, the completely renovated and newly designed Port Museum in Basel offers free admission to all interested parties. Jungheinrich and Logjob support the action day as sponsors.<\/p>\n

LOGISTICS DAYS at the Swiss Transport Museum<\/strong><\/h5>\n

For the first time, the LOGISTICS DAYS will take place at the Swiss Transport Museum in Lucerne on Swiss Logistics Day and the following days until Sunday, April 24. Visitors will have the unique opportunity during these four days to drive a truck or operate a forklift themselves. And, of course, to visit the special exhibition “Experience Logistics!” Alongside ASTAG and ASFL SVBL, exhibition partners such as Planzer, Galliker, Schmalz, Bito, K.A.B., and Dreier Transport are actively involved.<\/p>\n

But there is also a lot happening across Europe. Some examples: In Germany, the Duisburg Port duisport offers a port tour and an overview of training opportunities, while Lufthansa Cargo AG conducts events in Frankfurt am Main. Dematic, Hermes, and Instagram Micro open their doors as well. The Hellenic Institute for Logistics Management in Greece and the Logistics Students Association and Department of Logistics at the University of Gda\u0144sk in Poland are also participating. Additionally, over 50 online events invite participation from home. A press conference and a central online event, including a logistics lunch streamed from the House of Logistics and Mobility (HOLM) in Frankfurt am Main, are also planned.<\/p>\n

Raising Awareness of the Importance of Logistics<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Without logistics, neither the economy nor society functions. Recent examples of the system-relevant importance of the logistics sector’s supply function have been plentiful: from the challenges of vaccine logistics and aid deliveries to Ukrainian war refugees to managing shortages in international procurement markets. Recently, the fuel shortage at British gas stations highlighted the essential role that truck drivers play for all of us.<\/p>\n

During the COVID-19 pandemic, there was also much recognition and an increased awareness of the importance of logistics among broad segments of the population. Logistics service providers fulfill the supply function and organize regional and global supply chains for raw materials in the chemical industry, components for the automotive or machinery sectors, or food with high efficiency and reliability. In short: logistics is system-relevant.<\/p>\n

Job and Career Opportunities in Logistics<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Logistics offers exciting, challenging, and meaningful activities in many fields. The Swiss Logistics Day and Logistics Day provide companies with the opportunity to showcase the diversity of tasks and job and career perspectives, to engage people in logistics, and thus to ensure lasting acceptance of the economic sector. To seize the opportunity for image work, companies and organizations must create and widely publicize an appropriate event offering for this day. This can happen live on-site or digitally in the form of webinars, video conferences, live streams, vlogs, blogs, and much more. Additionally, companies can intensify their press work, draw attention to logistics with actions on their websites, or be active on social media. About the Swiss Logistics Day \/ Logistics Day<\/strong><\/h5>\n

The Swiss Logistics Day \/ Logistics Day takes place annually on the third Thursday in April and was initiated in 2008 by the BVL together with GS1 Switzerland. The organization of the action day is for the first time in 2022 with Swiss Supply, the new Swiss association for supply, logistics, and transport. The organization optimizes public perception and appreciation of our important tasks and professions along the value chain with united efforts. Swiss Supply demonstrates how versatile, surprisingly exciting, ecologically sustainable, and meaningful our supply tasks are. Swiss Supply is supported by 28 national associations and organizations.<\/p>\n
