TX Logistik AG has put the first three of 40 modern Vectron locomotives from the manufacturer Siemens Mobility into operation, which the rail logistics company belonging to Mercitalia Logistics (FS Italiane Group) ordered in May 2023. The expansion of the vehicle fleet is an important prerequisite for TX Logistik to continue growing in intermodal and cross-border rail freight transport.<\/strong><\/h5>\n

(Troisdorf) The new locomotives will primarily be used on the Brenner and Switzerland corridors, the strategically important north-south axes in Europe. Both corridors are heavily frequented and place high demands on the locomotives used \u2013 from tractive power to stability and cross-border system compatibility.<\/p>\n

TX Logistik has ordered the machines with various country packages. 20 Vectron locomotives will receive the country package for operation in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, and the Netherlands (D-A-CH-I-NL) and are expected to be delivered by early 2025. The delivery of the 20 locomotives equipped for the German-Austrian-Italian corridor (D-A-I) is scheduled to take place by the end of 2025.<\/p>\n

The decision to purchase the Vectron locomotives also underscores TX Logistik’s commitment to further promote rail freight transport as an environmentally friendly and efficient alternative to road transport. To emphasize this and simultaneously promote the entry into intermodal transport, the first of the three Vectrons, which were handed over at the train hotel in Braunschweig, has received a special locomotive wrap with the inscription “Start now (Nature). Driven by Green Passion.” <\/p>\n

Flexibility and Performance<\/h5>\n

The new locomotives offer ideal technical conditions with their flexibility and performance to meet the increasing demands of European freight transport. The first two vehicles are to be put into operation initially for routes in Germany, Austria, and the Netherlands, followed by Switzerland and Italy, as the Italian and border route approvals (Chiasso) are still pending. With the modern Vectron fleet, TX Logistik states that it is now capable of significantly increasing capacities on the Brenner and Switzerland corridors in the medium term and further improving efficiency and reliability in rail freight transport.<\/p>\n
