Delivery services are considered contributors to greenhouse gas emissions, traffic congestion, and noise. As the only express courier service, swissconnect ag has consistently relied on a unique transport system for over 20 years. This has resulted in a total savings of 3,665 tons of CO2 in 2020. Nevertheless, the goods arrive on time.

(Lucerne) In 2020, swissconnect ag saved an impressive 3,665 tons of CO2. It is difficult to imagine what this savings means over a year. Therefore, here are two explanations:

– 293,268 beech trees must grow for a year to absorb 3,665 tons of CO₂.

– The oil heating systems of 733 Swiss single-family homes produce 3,665 tons of CO₂ in one year.

The reduction of such a large amount of CO₂ in the express transport of laboratory samples, spare parts, medications, and other goods is only possible because the logistics software developed by swissconnect determines the fastest and simultaneously the most ecological delivery option for each transport order.

Combined transport thanks to a national logistics network

We rely on a combination of the most suitable means of transport (bicycle, cargo bike, train, car, delivery van). In the 23 largest cities, a local bicycle courier picks up the goods and loads them into a secured compartment of the train. This way, urgently needed goods such as laboratory samples, medications, or spare parts travel safely from city to city and are guaranteed not to be stuck in traffic. At the recipient train station, the courier dispatched by swissconnect unloads the goods and delivers them directly to the recipient by bicycle or cargo bike.

For pickups and deliveries outside the cities, taxi couriers are used for the last mile. Through a digital courier platform, swissconnect connects over 70 courier companies and is therefore always close to the customer. Thanks to the dense and experienced logistics network, a pickup can be offered in the shortest time – anywhere in Switzerland.

CO2 Calculator

Since its founding over 20 years ago, swissconnect has relied on this unique transport system and supports companies from various industries in express logistics. To measure the reduction of CO₂ emissions, a CO_2-calculator was developed in collaboration with Swiss Climate. This compares the low CO₂ emissions of the transport means used by swissconnect with the emissions of a car that conventional courier services use for express deliveries.
