DVF welcomes Hupac Intermodal SA as a new member

The German Transport Forum is expanding in the field of rail freight transport with the Hupac Group, welcoming a new strong member. Hupac is one of the leading operators in combined transport in Europe. The group, consisting of a total of 23 companies, is headquartered in Chiasso, Switzerland, at the Italian border. (Berlin/Chiasso) DVF Managing Director Dr. Heike van Hoorn is particularly pleased about the increase in membership during the European Year of Rail: “With Hupac, we have gained an important member that, as a leading operator of combined transport (CT), brings the European dimension of cross-border rail freight transport into our association. As an association that stands like no other for intermodal mobility of people and goods, we are happy and proud to strengthen this unique feature with Hupac and to better convey the concerns of CT.”

Further Development of Intermodality

For Hupac, membership in the DVF is of strategic importance for the expansion of combined transport under the pressure of the desired climate and transport transition. “Europe, with its interconnected industry and the habitats spread across the continent, needs a strong voice on transport issues at its center,” says Michail Stahlhut, CEO of the Hupac Group. “Germany has a leadership role to play and must accept it. As a European player that knows the strengths of the transport modes, we look forward to the further development of intermodality with the DVF as a strong partner in Germany.”The Hupac Group consists of a total of 23 companies based in Switzerland, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Poland, Russia, and China and is the leading network operator in intermodal transport in Europe. Hupac AG was founded in 1967 in Switzerland. Approximately 100 shareholders are involved in the company. The share capital of 20 million CHF is held 72 percent by logistics and transport companies and 28 percent by railways. The Hupac Group’s network includes 150 trains daily with connections between the major European economic areas as well as to Russia and the Far East.
