Seasonally adjusted, nominal retail sales grew by 1.4% compared to the previous month. This is shown by the provisional results of the Federal Statistical Office (BFS).
(Bern) The real retail sales, adjusted for sales and holiday effects, increased by 5.8% in November 2021 compared to the previous year. The real development takes inflation into account. Compared to the previous month, real retail sales increased seasonally adjusted by 1.3%.
Adjusted for sales and holiday effects, retail trade excluding gas stations recorded a nominal sales growth of 3.9% in November 2021 compared to November 2020 (real +4.6%). The retail trade in food, beverages, and tobacco reported a nominal sales decrease of 1.2% (real -0.1%), while the non-food sector registered a nominal increase of 8.8% (real +9.0%).
Non-Food with a Nominal Increase of 1.8 Percent
Seasonally adjusted, retail trade excluding gas stations recorded a nominal sales growth of 1.4% in November compared to the previous month (real +1.3%). The retail trade in food, beverages, and tobacco saw a nominal sales increase of 1.5% (real +1.5%). The non-food sector registered a nominal increase of 1.8% (real 2.3%).
