(Bern/Villingen-Schwenningen) Since last week, the freight logistics division of Swiss Post in Germany has been unable to access its IT systems or can only do so partially. Investigations reveal that a targeted cyberattack is the cause of the system failure. Local logistics, accounting, and personnel systems of Swiss Post Cargo Germany are affected. Due to the complexity of the business, the impacts are most strongly felt in the general cargo sector.
Additionally, data sets from the period 2020–2025 have been stolen during the cyberattack. It cannot be completely ruled out that the attackers also gained access to sensitive personal data. A report has been made to the relevant German data protection authority, and criminal charges have been filed. Primarily affected by the system failure are around 1,600 business customers of Swiss Post Cargo Germany, who have been regularly informed by the responsible authorities since the beginning of the incident.
