MS Direct successfully transforms logistics center
Feb 23, 2026 at 3:29 PMThe Post has made a significant step towards environmentally friendly logistics in Schaffhausen. Recently, not only letters but also all packages are being delivered entirely electrically. This is part of a comprehensive strategy aimed at distributing letters and packages exclusively with electric vehicles across Switzerland by 2030. Currently, only electric vehicles are in use in eleven of the largest cities in Switzerland, meaning that the Post is already delivering half of its packages purely electrically.
Extensive Fleet of Electric Vehicles
The Post has continuously expanded its fleet of electric delivery vehicles. Currently, over 1,800 electric delivery vans are in operation, supplemented by around 6,000 electric tricycles that have been in service since 2017. These vehicles are significant not only in urban areas but also in rural regions. To meet varying demands, the Post is increasingly relying on 4×4 electric vehicles in rural areas. Suitable models will be available starting in 2025, and currently, about 50 such vehicles are already in use.
The transition to electric vehicles is being implemented gradually and is part of a long-term plan aimed at reducing CO2 emissions in the logistics sector. The Post is pursuing not only ecological but also economic goals by lowering operating costs through the use of electric vehicles.
Sustainability in Focus
The decision to rely on electric vehicles in Schaffhausen and other cities is an important step in implementing the Post’s sustainability strategy. The shift to electric delivery not only reduces CO2 emissions but also decreases noise pollution in cities. This benefits both the environment and residents.
The Post plans to further expand its electric fleet and to serve all households in Switzerland with electric vehicles by 2030, regardless of the region. This represents a significant advancement in logistics and demonstrates the Post’s commitment to an environmentally friendly future.
