The air freight volume at Geneva Airport increased in 2025, reaching 94,337 tons, the second highest figure in the airport’s history, compared to 90,696 tons the previous year. According to the operator, the growth was primarily driven by rising transit flows, while export activities from the surrounding region did not increase significantly.
Growth Driven by Transit Flows
The figures highlight the airport’s role as a hub within international logistics networks. Shipments transported through Geneva often continue their journey to other destinations, making the airport a transfer point within global supply chains. This development reflects the structure of the freight traffic handled at the Swiss airport, which includes high-value and time-sensitive goods transported by air freight.
The increase in freight volume largely pertains to logistics flows routed through the airport, rather than a broader expansion of industrial production in the region. This indicates that Geneva Airport is not only an important location for air freight traffic but also plays a central role in global trade flows.
