Joint venture improves logistics in Central America

Galaxus has begun construction of a new logistics center in Neuenburg am Rhein. The online retailer has commissioned the Austrian intralogistics provider TGW Logistics to implement a highly automated logistics solution. This includes a shuttle system, a small parts warehouse, and a pocket sorter. Currently, Galaxus is seeking several technical executives to strengthen the local team.
The new logistics center will be built on an area of 60,000 m² and is expected to feature a 39-aisle shuttle warehouse with more than 900,000 storage locations, as well as an automated small parts warehouse with 300,000 storage locations. A pocket sorter will assemble the orders, while shipping boxes will be automatically sealed before they reach the outgoing goods area and are distributed to the truck routes.
Michael Stolle, Managing Director of Galaxus Germany, commented on the plans: “We are building one of the most modern and largest logistics facilities in Germany on 60,000 square meters. This will ensure that our customers in Switzerland and the EU can continue to choose from a wide variety of products stored at Galaxus, which will be delivered to their homes as quickly as possible.”
Modernization of the Logistics Location
With the new logistics center, which will be named ON2, Galaxus complements the already operational warehouse ON1, which opened in October 2025. ON2 is expected to supply the Swiss warehouses starting in 2027 and will also serve end customers in Switzerland and the EU from 2028. Despite the high level of automation, Galaxus plans to employ around 1,200 specialists in Neuenburg once both warehouses are fully operational. Robert Brohl, Head of Supply Chain Management, emphasized the importance of human labor in logistics: “For many process steps in our logistics, people remain irreplaceable. This includes, for example, handling fragile items or placing items in boxes. Automation technology will ensure that the goods reach the employees without them having to walk long distances.”
Job Offers for Specialists
Galaxus has already advertised several technical leadership positions to support the construction of ON2. Among other positions, they are looking for a “Leader Control Center,” a “Leader Technics and Maintenance,” and an “International Technics and Infrastructure (Director).” Robert Brohl stated: “We are now entering the crucial phase of facility construction. For this, we are looking for experienced specialists and executives who want to help build and shape the location from the very beginning.”
