Contargo Increases Frequency on the Basel-Rotterdam Rail Route

Starting from September 12, 2023 (first arrival in Basel), Contargo will increase the round-trip capacities of its BWS trains. The capacity expansion by 2 train round trips complements the existing frequency of currently 5 departures from Rotterdam and Basel.

(Basel/Rotterdam) New to these two additional BWS round trips is that these two trains will be handled and transshipped directly at the Contargo terminal in the Rhine port of Basel Kleinhüningen.

The new connection offers the following features:

• Stable and reliable rail connection between the seaport of Rotterdam and Basel
• CO2-reducing, sustainable, direct rail link to the seaport terminals
• Easiest booking option via our web booking portal (with capacity overview)
• Bookings can continue to be accepted from now on
• High service level quality of Contargo
• Unchanged rates for the 2 additional trains for transport, storage, and ancillary fees

The scheduling, whether via Basel Bad. UBF or also via Contargo terminal Basel, is fully under the control of Contargo.

Advantages for Reefer Containers

Reefer container transports, both in import and export, can be directly connected to the cargo terminal before or after a rail transport. This ensures optimal temperature control – even for your sensitive goods. The train will be processed in Basel each night from Tuesday to Wednesday and from Friday to Saturday.
