ELP & RTC begin Euro9000 test drives in Italy
May 13, 2026 at 7:56 AMThe Swiss Post achieved an operating result (EBIT) of 94 million francs in the first quarter of 2026, which, according to a company statement, is in line with expectations. This result indicates that the efficiency and pricing measures implemented last year are showing effects. Nevertheless, the Post remains under pressure due to declining letter volumes, as these continuously lead to a decrease in important revenues.
Growth in digital services
The Post reports an increasing use of its digital offerings. In the first quarter of 2026, the Post app was used 17.4 million times, representing an increase of around 50 percent compared to the previous year. The volume of packages also rose by 4.4 percent, while unaddressed advertising mailings increased by 7.7 percent. According to the Post, these developments, along with efficiency measures, price adjustments, and seasonal effects, contributed to a better operating result compared to the previous year.
Additionally, there was a 4 percent increase in passenger numbers for PostAuto. Despite the Swiss National Bank’s (SNB) key interest rate of 0 percent, PostFinance was able to benefit from its investment strategy, leading to a stable interest result. The Post’s EBIT is 37 million francs higher than in the same period of the previous year, while the group profit has risen by 28 million francs to 64 million francs.
