Federal Council Strengthens Swiss Deep-Sea Shipping
May 27, 2026 at 10:56 AMDelta Cargo has expanded its packaging solutions for the pharmaceutical sector with the introduction of the new temperature-controlled container SkyCell 6500X. With this innovation, Delta Cargo is among the first airlines in the USA to implement this advanced container technology. The SkyCell 6500X is designed to enhance the support for complex pharmaceutical and life sciences shipments within Delta Cargo’s global network.
Technical features
The SkyCell 6500X is an autonomous, temperature-controlled container that, according to the Swiss manufacturer, is designed to integrate seamlessly into existing processes. It can be handled like passive cooling solutions, including the SkyCell 1500X, without requiring special handling procedures. Before shipping, the cooling device is activated, ensuring that the temperature regulation system is fully operational before handover. With a market-leading runtime of 300 hours, the 6500X can operate during transport without external power supply or manual intervention.
The container accommodates up to five European pallets or four US pallets and can maintain temperatures between 2° to 8°C as well as 15° to 25°C.
Booking and availability
The SkyCell 6500X can be rented through Delta Cargo or booked in conjunction with a customer-provided container. This is part of the pharmaceutical network capabilities of the US airline, which supports end-to-end temperature-controlled logistics.
