Security Measures for G7 Summit in Geneva
Jun 11, 2026 at 12:49 PMThe logistics network WACO System, founded in 1973 and registered in Zurich, elected a new board team during its annual general meeting in Athens, Greece. Duarte Rocha, the managing director of Extra Transportes Internacionais Lda, was appointed as a new board member. Rocha has been a member of WACO since 1984 and brings over 30 years of experience in international logistics and supply chain management.
Richard Charles, CEO of WACO, spoke positively about Rocha: “Duarte has been part of WACO for many years and is known in our network for his experience in freight forwarding, his good judgment, and his practical approach.” Rocha steps into a key position as WACO strengthens its membership in Latin America, expands its presence in Africa, and introduces digital tools aimed at improving member collaboration.
Another important point of the board elections was the resignation of Vince Touya, who served on the board for three years. Rocha, who joined Extra Transportes in 1993, has worked in various senior positions within the company and has significantly contributed to the development of international freight forwarding, logistics, and supply chain services.
WACO plans to focus on growth in Latin America and Africa. Additionally, digital initiatives will be developed to make collaboration among members more efficient and transparent. The network emphasizes that continuity in the board, along with Rocha’s appointment, will support independent freight forwarders in responding to changing customer needs and trade patterns.
