Delta Cargo opens Pharma Station in Basel
Jun 19, 2026 at 6:37 AMSince 15 years, the logistics cluster has strengthened the visibility of the industry, promoted networking, and created understanding of the functioning of logistics and its concerns. The Basel region is positioned as a leading logistics location in Switzerland.
In recent years, numerous initiatives have been implemented, including:
– Development of an urban and trinational freight transport concept.
– Presence at the logistics fair in Munich, which brought the logistics cluster region Basel into the spotlight.
– Creation of the guide „Sustainable Logistics,“ which compiled best practice examples of the industry’s commitment to achieving sustainability goals.
– Participation in table fairs and coordination of future days to promote young talent in the industry.
– Awarding of the Digital Innovation Award.
– Conducting image campaigns and a competition that posed questions about logistics to listeners of Radio Basilisk for a year.
– Participation in the development of a trinational logistics space strategy.
With the end of the current strategy period in 2026, the fifth strategy period of the logistics cluster will be completed. The cantons of Basel-Landschaft and Basel-Stadt have decided to withdraw from the sponsorship of the logistics cluster at the end of this period. This decision does not result from a diminished importance of logistics but from a general realignment in the distribution of financial contributions and cross-industry innovation promotion.
However, both cantons have signaled that they will continue to support projects and initiatives in the logistics sector and will collaborate with the logistics cluster on a project basis in the future. The canton of Basel-Stadt promotes the logistics sector within the framework of existing innovation programs, while the canton of Basel-Landschaft will continue to provide financial support for projects of the logistics cluster.
Representatives of industry associations and infrastructure operators in the executive committee are convinced that the logistics cluster can be jointly led into a new future. The challenges of logistics in the region remain.
The logistics cluster is committed to ensuring that logistics receives the reliable framework conditions and importance it needs to fulfill its central role for the economy and society. The results of a survey in the logistics cluster community in spring 2026 confirm that networking among stakeholders and advocacy towards politics and administration are of great importance.
To address these concerns, the logistics cluster will be realigned both content-wise and financially. Together with the executive committee, a new strategy with focuses, goals, and activities for the next three years will be developed. Regular exchanges with the cantonal administrations as well as project-based collaboration are still planned to create reliable framework conditions.
The realignment of the logistics cluster region Basel will be presented at the anniversary forum on October 21, 2026. Registrations for the anniversary forum are already possible at this link.
