Jun 8, 2026 at 1:08 PMMilitzer & Münch has systematically expanded its business activities in Sub-Saharan Africa. The globally active company, headquartered in St. Gallen (Switzerland), has moved beyond the initial phase of development and is making progress in various projects. The company sees significant growth potential, particularly in West Africa, and is strategically enhancing its market presence.
In 2025, consolidation was the focus. The team at M&M air sea cargo GmbH, led by Irene Pinkrah, Trade Lane Manager for Sub-Saharan Africa, utilized the year to build networks intensively and explore new project opportunities. These efforts resulted in a significant increase in the company’s visibility in relevant markets, which in turn led to new contracts.
Key target markets and partnerships
Currently, the most important target markets in Africa include Burkina Faso, Ghana, and Uganda. Additionally, Militzer & Münch is pursuing further projects and partnerships in other African countries. A crucial success factor is the company’s strong presence at international trade events and economic forums, such as MedPharma Africa in Côte d’Ivoire, the German Africa Business Summit in Kenya, and the West African Clean Energy & Environment in Ghana. These activities were complemented by networking events in Germany.
The Africa project is also gaining momentum within the corporate group. Currently, the national subsidiaries in China, Turkey, the UAE, Morocco, Germany, Indonesia, and India support the initiative by placing specific freight orders, handling customer inquiries, and participating in networking activities.
Direct communication and local partnerships
Additionally, the company is strengthening direct communication with local partners through regular on-site visits in West Africa. Meetings with potential customers, strategic follow-ups, and the continuous maintenance of existing contacts help convert inquiries into concrete business opportunities.
A highlight was Pinkrah’s trip with a Hessian business delegation in April 2026. The stops included Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, and Burkina Faso, where the Militzer & Münch team brought together logistics companies, businesses, and institutional actors during the Burkina Faso Connect Day 2026.
“A clear common thread of this trip was the direct engagement and the establishment of trustworthy local partnerships for resilient supply chains in West Africa,” explains Pinkrah. “The shared interest in sustainable collaboration and improved supply chains in the health and pharmaceutical sector was particularly encouraging.”
