Robert Humphry new VP Sales at Swisslog
Jun 18, 2026 at 10:32 AMWith the official groundbreaking in Frauenfeld, construction has begun on a new regional parcel center for the Post: This investment of 200 million Swiss francs aims to strengthen the logistics hub in Thurgau in the long term and to handle the growing parcel volumes in Eastern Switzerland and throughout Switzerland more efficiently, as the company reports.
According to the Post, this step is a response to the ongoing increase in online orders. Johannes Cramer, Head of Logistics Services at the Post, emphasized the importance of the new center during the groundbreaking ceremony: „With the regional parcel center in Frauenfeld, we are clearly committed to the region and are investing long-term in our core business – logistics.“ Additionally, around 220 new jobs are expected to be created through the new construction, which was also positively highlighted by Walter Schönholzer, the Thurgau Director of Economic Affairs. He sees the investment as a clear commitment by the Post to the location in Frauenfeld and is pleased about the creation of new jobs in the region.
12,000 parcels per hour
The Post plans to have the conveyor belts of the new center operational by Christmas 2029. With a sorting capacity of up to 12,000 parcels per hour, the new center is set to play a central role in the logistics of the Post. In the next 10 to 15 years, renovations and modernizations of the national parcel centers in Härkingen, Daillens, and Frauenfeld are also planned, as these are over 25 years old. The new sorting center will partially take over the tasks of the existing parcel center in Frauenfeld during the renovation work and will expand its capacities after the renovation.
