Apr 20, 2026 at 11:58 AMThe Rheinmetall Air Defence AG, a subsidiary of the Düsseldorf technology group Rheinmetall, has taken an important step towards expansion with the groundbreaking ceremony for a new workshop and storage facility in Studen/SZ. Representatives from the company, the municipality, and the construction management participated in the ceremony.
Planned completion by the end of 2026
The new hall is expected to be ready for occupancy by the end of 2026. The planning and implementation of the construction project is being carried out in close cooperation with regional companies, which aims to promote local value creation. By collaborating with local firms, the goal is to support the economic development of the region.
The location in Studen benefits from its proximity to the Ochsenboden testing center, operated by Rheinmetall Waffe Munition Schweiz AG. This location allows for efficient use of the existing infrastructure and the realization of valuable synergies. The construction project is part of Rheinmetall Air Defence’s growth strategy, which aims to optimize decentralized acceptance and shipping processes. The new hall will serve as a central hub for various processes such as acceptance preparations, system acceptances, repairs, finishing, as well as packaging and shipping.
Creation of new jobs
For the operation of the new acceptance and shipping processes, a gradual buildup of up to 30 employees is planned. Of these, around eight employees will be permanently based on-site. This measure is intended not only to increase the efficiency of operations but also to create new jobs in the region.
With this investment, Rheinmetall reaffirms its commitment to the industrial location of Switzerland and contributes to the long-term competitiveness in the field of cutting-edge defense technology.
