Annual results and strategy 2030 for the Post approved
May 6, 2026 at 9:54 AMStarting from July 1, 2026, a new regulation will come into effect that simplifies the approval process for exceptional transports. This was decided in a session of the Federal Council on May 6, 2026. The changes aim to reduce the administrative burden for public and private actors while also addressing the needs of the economy. The simplified approval process is intended to better distribute transports throughout the day, which should positively impact traffic flow.
Changes in Animal Transport
Another aspect of the new regulation concerns the transport of animals. In the future, animals may also be transported at night as well as on Sundays and public holidays to promote animal welfare. Transporting animals is often associated with stress, especially during high temperatures or longer travel times due to traffic jams. By allowing transports to be conducted at night, these challenges can be better managed.
In addition to the changes in regulations for exceptional transports, the Traffic Regulations Ordinance (VRV) will also be adjusted. This stipulates that the transport of perishable goods and animals will be exempt from the Sunday and night driving bans. This is intended to help increase efficiency in the transport sector while also considering animal welfare.
Circuit Races Allowed Again Under Conditions
Another point of the new regulation concerns the re-approval of circuit races. After the ban on such events was lifted in the Road Traffic Act (SVG), the detailed regulations in the VRV have now also been adjusted. In the future, it will be up to the cantons to grant permits for these sporting events. They must ensure that certain conditions are met, particularly regarding safety standards and environmental protection.
The new regulations represent a step towards a more flexible and business-friendly transport policy that also takes into account animal welfare and road safety.
