MSC: Captain hands over leadership

As MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company has now announced, a change of ownership took place in the last quarter of 2025. The founder of the company, Captain Gianluigi Aponte, has handed over the management to his children, Alexa and Diego Aponte. Both are Italian citizens and reside in Switzerland.

Generational change in management

This step marks a significant moment in the history of the Geneva-based company. Diego Aponte, who serves as Group President, and Alexa Aponte, who works as Group Chief Financial Officer, have already achieved successes in their respective positions and demonstrate leadership and foresight. The change of ownership aims to ensure the stability and growth of the MSC Group under the leadership of the next generation.

Focus on core business remains

Despite the change of ownership, MSC will continue to focus on its core business, maritime freight transport. Captain Gianluigi Aponte will remain actively involved as Executive Chairman of the company.
