The founder of the company, Captain Gianluigi Aponte, has handed over the management to his children, Alexa and Diego Aponte. Both are Italian citizens and reside in Switzerland.
Generational change in management
This step marks a significant moment in the history of the Geneva-based company. Diego Aponte, who serves as Group President, and Alexa Aponte, who works as Group Chief Financial Officer, have already achieved successes in their respective positions and demonstrate leadership and foresight. The change of ownership aims to ensure the stability and growth of the MSC Group under the leadership of the next generation.
Captain Gianluigi Aponte commented on this transition: “I am incredibly proud of this historic moment. Focus on core business remains
Despite the change of ownership, MSC will continue to focus on its core business, maritime freight transport. Captain Gianluigi Aponte will remain actively involved as Executive Chairman of the company.
Founded in 1970 by Gianluigi Aponte, MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company has developed into a global player in the transport and logistics industry. With 675 offices in 155 countries and a fleet of 1,000 ships, the company handles approximately 30 million TEU annually and is capable of serving a wide range of industries and customers.
