Oct 20, 2022 at 12:42 PMCHEMET, one of the leading manufacturers of storage tanks and pressure tanks for the transport of liquefied gas by rail and by ship, has commissioned Nexxiot to digitize tank cars. Based in Poland and France, CHEMET is the first manufacturer in Europe to offer pressure gas tank cars with digital technology.
(Tarnowskie Góry/St Pierre d’ Exideuil/Zürich) CHEMET will integrate Nexxiot’s data technology into new pressure gas tank cars. This will provide CHEMET’s customers with real-time information about position, runtime performance, and mechanical forces acting on the tank from the outside. Additionally, they will receive alerts when the temperature inside the tank changes significantly. To prevent cargo damage and loss, sensors and data analytics from Nexxiot will provide predictions about disruptive factors that could negatively impact tank transport.
“We are pleased with CHEMET’s forward-looking decision to equip tank cars with digital technology,” said Stefan Kalmund, CEO of Nexxiot. “This is a significant step in the digitization of tanks and serves as a role model for the entire industry.”
“With the integration of Nexxiot’s technology, we are responding to the increasing demand from our customers for digital solutions,” said Bartosz Urbaniak, Commercial Operations Director at CHEMET. “In partnership with Nexxiot, we can now offer fully digitized tank cars. Our customers benefit from the elimination of complex processes associated with the identification, installation, and coordination of new technologies. CHEMET builds the safest railway tank cars currently available. Our customers benefit because the tank cars are immediately ready for safe rail operation after the installation of Nexxiot’s hardware.”
CHEMET specializes in supplying the European tank car market and produces up to 500 complete tank cars and up to 1,000 tanks annually for the transport of hazardous goods such as liquefied gas, ammonia, and chemical products. Customers include leading tank car lessors and rail operators such as ERMEWA, ARETZ, and GATX Europe.
